Shopping for lunch

I am off first thing this morning to town, trying to find a store of some type which is open on a Sunday morning before Aspra shutters out the midday sun.

Jackpot! Little thin paper bags overflow with PEACHES !

bright red tomatoes that look like flowers, I have never seen tomatoes like this. Thinly sliced mortadella, bread so fresh the sesame seeds practically quiver.Lettuce a little wilted looking and dense, heavy red onions. And with gratitude to the Corvo plant only 500 meters away a promising bottle of red.

In Aspra, I was able to call three farmers. It was agony. I left the conversations with promises to call again, and that I should just come ahead, that they would find work for me. So I assume I have a farm in Calabria which is ready for me, but really, I will need to check this again, it sounded a little imprecise. I wonder if this is a quality I can expect... I leave the phone number of the school as my contact info. Gotta get a phone...

pranzo delicious, luxuriant and restorative around which another day resting, struggling with Italian, and sun, sun, sun, sea sea sea takes shape.

Thank you , thank you , thank you.
